Tonight may be a big night for the Friday night Gamers. I don’t know yet exactly what’s going to happen, but they could meet the final villain, or they could get all killed by the trap he has waiting for them. What? The kobolds aren’t the only ones with traps around here…and you think a dragon doesn’t like to keep pets?

Friday gaming started out crappy, when 2 of our group were out. Chris was at an F&I re-enactment & his brother Dave was sick. But then it picked up when I pulled out the pope hat that I made. See, if you haven’t been following, in our game which is my pseudo Europe…in the early 1500s…the group came into contact with Pope Leo X (who, in the game, is a puppet of his family which is being manipulated by…well, I can’t give that away…) and pissed off pretty much the entire group with his disregard for the people (and orcs) he hurts by his policies. So (this was after the group fought an Angel, and won in about 5 rounds) the Druid turned the pope into a chicken. So we teased that when the Druid changed shape into a dog, that it was wearing the pope hat around… so I happened to have a pattern for a pope hat…and everything to make one… So I gave the hat to Kendra, who plays Aris, our Druid, and she wore it for the entire game session. I love that she had to pose with a bottle of beer and a slogan. “Come join the Church of Ehlonna. We have more fun!”

The group figured out how Carl (Tungsten’s seneschal) is related to the Wolfram family, and there was many opportunities to pick on Re-Carl, er, I mean Eloi, Kristie’s character. You know it’s a good game session when Kristie is so broken she can’t stay above the table because she’s laughing so hard.

So the game session ended with everyone back at Wolfram manor (more like a tower or small fortress) and re-grouping before going to the volcano island.

Ok, so… they got into St Peter’s to rescue Daddy Wolfram, and hopefully find the cache of magical items that has been flowing into the city. Eloi had been zapped by the sword into the chapel with Innocent 7′s body and the palantir, and Linus had been zapped into the jail room with Daddy Wolfram. The guys got past the guard at the front and one of them actually thought to check the body for a key. The party rejoined each other,  and went to go find the palantir. It worked out really well with the Angel to smite anyone messing with the body of Pope Innocent 7  (Names are correct, the exact locations of things are fudged). Well, I was a bit surprised how quickly that the Angel went down. He was tough, most of them couldn’t even hit him. But they buffed the one who could, and the Angel made 1 mistake, he healed first, then was going to cast a summon monster spell, should have done that in reverse. Oh well.

Then the pope and his friends came to check out the noise, and the group found dear old Auntie Lilian, and her newish husband, with Pope Leo. And Leo got lippy about the Orc army who were surrounding Rome, and the Druid turned him into a chicken.

Yeah…
