CJ was walking around, holding my fingers and I let go of him to stand at the coffee table, I took a few steps back and reached out to him to come to me (usually he just gets down and crawls to me). He let go of the table and took right-left steps and grabbed my hands. Tears just started streaming down my face as I picked him up and hugged him really tightly. He took his first steps to ME. That made me feel good. And they weren’t “oh crap I’m falling” steps, they were deliberate, “I’m going to get to Momma” steps. Just 1 day shy of a week after his first birthday.

CJ had a great birthday weekend. Saturday at F&I he didn’t recognize us when we got dressed in our garb, so Momma had to go back to her street clothes so CJ would finally stop freaking out.
Sunday he stayed with Nana & Papa while mom and dad went to a wedding.
Monday he had a great time with everyone coming over and celebrating with a bbq, though he didn’t really like hot dogs, or even the cake, except the marshmallows on top.

*Friday is CJ’s real first Birthday. He’s got a 9am Dr apt. to get his 1 year visit & shots. In the afternoon I have to go to work, evening is gaming.
*Saturday all day is the F&I Port Huron event (at least at this event I’m not still breastfeeding and I can wear a corset). That’s going to be a long drive, especially with a 1 year old.
*Sunday is Chris’ cousin’s wedding in Lansing. Nana and Papa are watching CJ for us.
*Monday we pick up CJ in the morning (I think) and go to watch the parade, then have his birthday party in the afternoon.
I’m going to be exhausted by the time this weekend is over.
I’m glad Nana is taking care of the cake. She’s going to make a castle cake. I can’t wait to see it. She’s using a wilton kit she got at JoAnn’s, it has instructions for a “fortress” cake that’s not quite like the pretty princess one on the front cover of the box. I like the idea that it reminds me of my wedding cake.
I just need to clean up the house and try to get those doors off, outside and painted. *sigh*
Mom took a class on cake decorating when I was little and she showed me how to do it too.

CJ is almost a year old…wow. He’s been around for almost a year. It doesn’t seem like that long ago I said to Chris, “I think we should start trying to have a baby.”
He’s dong great. He has 8 teeth, he walks along furniture. He says very clearly “Momma, Dada, Dog, Dog-Dog, Nana and ocassionally Papa and Good.” Since he’s standing by himself fairly well, and Ginger is back from her vacation, we started CJ on potty training (for real this time). He’s got the idea down that potty in his little potty is a GREAT thing, but trying to tell us that he’s got to go is frustrating both of us. He’s not only urinated, but defecated in the potty too!!! Now it’s not constant, like I said, we’re still working out a system for him to tell us he’s got to go, but when we put him on, more often than not he’s leaving something!
He really needs to get that walking thing down better. Late last week I went to pick him up and pulled a muscle in my back really badly. I ended up unable to get off of the floor once I got down there. I was able to get to a phone and call Mom to come and help. I’m doing much better now, and Chris took Friday off of work to help me because I couldn’t pick up CJ in any way at first. I was feeling better and on Saturday I was doing fairly good, then I picked a small, but squat, fairly light, box off of the floor, and strained it all over again, but not nearly as badly. I’m doing better (it helps to work at a Chiropractor’s office), but I still have a difficult time picking the little one up. I’m just sore and trying to get a good position to sleep in is easier said than done. My victorian corset helps a little when I’m doing stuff around the house…oh well. I hope it gets better quickly, CJ doesn’t understand why I’m not picking him up more.
