CADD Attack

Costume Attention Deficit Disorder attacked me this weekend.

So while Daddy was out playing with his toy soldiers and CJ was out with Grandma, I thought I’d get Chris’ Tudor done… well, I knew I’d forget that and work on my Pirate outfit instead. Well, I forgot both of those, and made Chris a mad hatter style top hat instead. *facepalm*

So the hat’s not completely done because I need more millinery wire than I have. Then I just need to add it to the edge and put binding over it and add final decoration & pressing. It’s also not done because when I was cutting the plastic needle point canvas for the top circle (I don’t know proper terms), I cut my finger. Not horribly badly, but bad enough that it really bothered me mentally. It actually bothered me more mentally than the pain I felt when I pulled the skin apart and poured the rubbing alcohol on it. I don’t screw around with infections… Any way. I used the plastic canvas for the very top, and buckram for the sides. I used black craft felt I had laying around the house. I made a little bag liner from a remnant of silk dupioni.

So after all that I did get the pirate coat and the front panels of the waistcoat cut out of the black brocade jacquard. The cuffs and pockets are going to be out of black cotton velveteen.

Oh, and I didn’t mention, when I was out bonding with Peggy (aka my Mother in Law, aka Grandma) we got some hair dye and she helped me dye my hair red. Yeah. With all the talk about gaming conventions coming up, I’ve been getting excited about dressing up like my character from our Thursday game, Rojo. Plus, there won’t be photos anytime soon, because our digital camera is broken (the iris won’t open and is finally dead after 5 years or so) and I’m afraid that I’ll just jinx it if I get photos on my phone at this point. When it’s done, or very close, I’ll get photos. :)
