It’s almost 2am, but my pirate coat is almost done. I just need to press the sleeve seams flat, hem the bottom, and add finishing touches like buttons. There are no functional buttons on the coat so I’m not really worried.
Update: 2pm Hem done. most seams are pinked. I found the buttons from Chris’ old pirate coat…I’ve got like 40 of them…will put them on later. Maybe tonight while gaming. The cool thing I realized while using some gold & black trim for hem tape… I have not spent a single cent on this outfit. The pattern was from my stash. The fabric was white that I had dyed black (it’s a green-black) back in 2001 or 2. The interfacing, I used an old fitted bed sheet for a bed we no longer have, because the fabric was already stiff, it just needed a little oomph, not a lot of oomph. As I said, the buttons were from Chris’ old pirate coat. The accent fabric was stash black velveteen, and the thread, basic black, finished 2 used spools. Now the shirt, that was new black broadcloth, still <$7 with coupon, but that’s not done yet. I won’t need anything new for that, the pants, I haven’t decided on. I will probably need stuff for the waistcoat tho. I’d love to have a cool brocade lining…
