So we got to play our Pirate game yesterday. Lots of good game background got out. So Dave’s character was a psychopath Varuulani military officer who was responsible for mass murder, and now has turned against the Varuulani. Iiiinnnteresting…
I got done with all I can do right now with Dave’s Girl Genius/Zola’s Mook costume. I’ve still got to put together the rest of mine. Really, it’s all about putting stuff I already have together, and maybe finishing my waist-cincher. I’m psyched to see how Kristie’s Zola outfit comes out. She’s doing the full blown big pink Victorian style top and full skirt outfit with that giant coat and all the Heterodyne trilobites. She’s going to make an extra one for Dave’s collar. I need to find some glasses for Dave. I need to see if I can throw together a hat too.
The next thing I have to make is my outfit for JaFax. Since Dave & Kristie are going to be from Tales of the Abyss, I finally found an easy outfit I can do of an obscure character, Tamara. She’s one of the engineers of Class M. The three of us are going to be judging the costume contest and masquerade. I was originally thinking of going as Rangiku from Bleach, but then that kinda messes with the Tales of the Abyss thing the other two already have going on, and since Tamara’s outfit is really quite wearable, and that apron has a definite steampunky vibe, I am totally digging it. OH, and I can complain about the damn kids… ;D she’s an old lady… I’m just going to dye my hair a light ash blond for it. Pretty close to my natural dark ash blond anyway…
Tonight is gaming, but we’re off next week because most of us are going to the steampunk con. I have been beating my head about what EXACTLY happened to Lord Wolfram (Tungsten’s dad). I have two options in my head. It will hit me when I’m at work. That’s what usually happens anyway. I think that will determine what happens next really.

I updated Rojo’s journal. AHHHHHHHHH! And no Thursday game next week!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
So over the weekend I ended up getting two commissioned works from Kristy. (I’ll post a link if she puts them up on Deviant Art) An Arin (Rojo’s brother) and a Rojo. I’ve got them now in a really cool wood plank looking frame.
Anyway, in our game we are probably going to a coronation (crash it more like), and Rojo and Loco had gone dress shopping. The GM asked us to come up with dress designs. So I used Karmada’s female form outline, and made up the dress based on a late 17th century Mantua. (See image right)

It’s almost 2am, but my pirate coat is almost done. I just need to press the sleeve seams flat, hem the bottom, and add finishing touches like buttons. There are no functional buttons on the coat so I’m not really worried.
Update: 2pm Hem done. most seams are pinked. I found the buttons from Chris’ old pirate coat…I’ve got like 40 of them…will put them on later. Maybe tonight while gaming. The cool thing I realized while using some gold & black trim for hem tape… I have not spent a single cent on this outfit. The pattern was from my stash. The fabric was white that I had dyed black (it’s a green-black) back in 2001 or 2. The interfacing, I used an old fitted bed sheet for a bed we no longer have, because the fabric was already stiff, it just needed a little oomph, not a lot of oomph. As I said, the buttons were from Chris’ old pirate coat. The accent fabric was stash black velveteen, and the thread, basic black, finished 2 used spools. Now the shirt, that was new black broadcloth, still <$7 with coupon, but that’s not done yet. I won’t need anything new for that, the pants, I haven’t decided on. I will probably need stuff for the waistcoat tho. I’d love to have a cool brocade lining…

So while Daddy was out playing with his toy soldiers and CJ was out with Grandma, I thought I’d get Chris’ Tudor done… well, I knew I’d forget that and work on my Pirate outfit instead. Well, I forgot both of those, and made Chris a mad hatter style top hat instead. *facepalm* FOR MORE CLICK HERE…
