Baby update

CJ is almost a year old…wow. He’s been around for almost a year. It doesn’t seem like that long ago I said to Chris, “I think we should start trying to have a baby.”
He’s dong great. He has 8 teeth, he walks along furniture. He says very clearly “Momma, Dada, Dog, Dog-Dog, Nana and ocassionally Papa and Good.” Since he’s standing by himself fairly well, and Ginger is back from her vacation, we started CJ on potty training (for real this time). He’s got the idea down that potty in his little potty is a GREAT thing, but trying to tell us that he’s got to go is frustrating both of us. He’s not only urinated, but defecated in the potty too!!! Now it’s not constant, like I said, we’re still working out a system for him to tell us he’s got to go, but when we put him on, more often than not he’s leaving something!
He really needs to get that walking thing down better. Late last week I went to pick him up and pulled a muscle in my back really badly. I ended up unable to get off of the floor once I got down there. I was able to get to a phone and call Mom to come and help. I’m doing much better now, and Chris took Friday off of work to help me because I couldn’t pick up CJ in any way at first. I was feeling better and on Saturday I was doing fairly good, then I picked a small, but squat, fairly light, box off of the floor, and strained it all over again, but not nearly as badly. I’m doing better (it helps to work at a Chiropractor’s office), but I still have a difficult time picking the little one up. I’m just sore and trying to get a good position to sleep in is easier said than done. My victorian corset helps a little when I’m doing stuff around the house…oh well. I hope it gets better quickly, CJ doesn’t understand why I’m not picking him up more.

I’m not going to be able to really start the potty training for a while yet I’ve found. He’s really got to start walking first. He wants to be potty trained tho. He hates dirty diapers. The big problem is getting him to the potty. If he could stand there, and we could pull the pants down, this would be ok, but he can’t stand alone yet. He has just started to pull himself up on things, and not all the way yet.

Song of Ice and Fire series is REALLY good. I also love the fact that most of our gaming group is reading/has read it. Chris (Daddy) read it and we don’t usually like the same kind of books, but this is the one series we can agree on (I only made it through the first 4 books of Wheel of Time, too many characters and no one died). I love the fact that people die, even people who have point of views in his books die. I have this slightly macabre side that just adores that. I hate it when things are perfect. That’s why I love my engagement ring, Chris picked out a diamond with a visible flaw because it shows that it’s real, like our love. Yeah, romantic side is there too. So I’m almost done with storm of swords and I just picked up feast for crows. I need to go through the books one more time and send Martin an email tho. *rant alert* SILK IS A FIBER, SATIN IS A WEAVE! In truth, you can have cotton, linen, or wool satin (I’m just talking period fibers here no need to go into polyester, rayon or microfiber here). You can’t compare silk and satin, they are as different as potatoes and chips. You can make chips out of potatoes, but chips don’t have to be potato chips. So the phrase “…join the river of silk, satin and velvet flowing toward the throne room.” You can even have silk velvet, or cotton velvet, linen or wool velvet too! It’s like saying “…join the river of cornstarch, pies and muffins.” One is an ingredient, the other two are finished products. OH THAT IRRITATES ME. Don’t get me started on the costuming (though it’s better than the Phillipa Gregory novels)… *end of rant*

I am trying to get another domain, since Tucows has gone and stole raveness.com from me and is trying to extort large sums of money to get it back (long story). I hope to have another domain name and website by the end of the month. Which of course is another excuse for a site re-design.

Ok, I need to go and do dishes, see if I can make CJ’s curtains really quickly (?) and pick up the dining room because CJ has just found out that he can crawl around the couch and goes directly for my sewing stuff.

Baby Update

Yesterday I put CJ on the potty for the first time, and HE WENT WEE WEE IN THE POTTY!!! Ok, this by NO means that he’s potty trained, but that he went at the right time, it was soo cool! Jackie thinks it was a fluke, but then he did it again! 2 times in a row! Ok, so the 3rd time, he was like “Too late mom, look in the diaper.” And this morning, he was like, “Dude, you were late again.” But this afternoon, POW! Wee wee in the potty AGAIN!
I’m so excited. It’s a very exciting time for Momma and Daddy and CJ and the potty! I’m still learning when he goes, when he’s making motions that he’s got to go and that sort of thing. But if he’s just woke up from a nap, good chance he’s about to go…unless you get there too late, or he’s just been up and quiet biting on Bear the bedtime dog’s ear, or Tigger’s tail…

Tooth count, 4 on top, 2 1/2 on bottom. And he’s grinding his teeth. :( It’s like fingernails on the chalkboard to me.

On another note, Bella still thinks that Gidget is a punk kid and wants to be left alone. Every once in a while, I find Bella looking around Nana’s house for Minit. You know it’s her she’s looking for because it’s where Little Shit would hide, or do bad things to the carpet, or both. Last night she let us brush her…even her paws. Bella HATES being brushed. She’s lonesome. She’s going to need to get groomed very soon…she looks horrible, but her coat is warm, and it’s sooooo very cold here.

Fighting stuff: Dad stripped my sword and I re-taped it with about 1/2 the tape that was on it before. There was so much duct tape on it, that when we took the duct tape off, the trash was heavier… I had my shield cut out of plywood when I first started getting into Fighting, and I had the hand guard, but we just never put it togeather. So, Dad and I screwed the hand guard on, made an arm strap, primered it, and we’re almost done putting the tubing around the edge. Heating it with the heat-gun sure helps to get it around those edges. We’re using zip ties to secure it. I figure it’s more secure than a lot of things and about as accurate as duct tape. I purchased the canvas for the coat of plates (modified wisby maybe), and the steel. It’s rather thin, but I’ll be wearing other stuff too. Possibly a corset (a helluvalotta steel in mine). I’ll at least have a mostly finished sword (it was so heavy before) and sheild for fighter practice on Sunday. Enough to practice with anyway. YIPPIE!
