I've Made: HouppelandeMy mom went with my husband and I to the Middle Kingdom's 12th Night that our Barony of Cynnabar put on. This is the outfit I made for her. She is wearing an under dress (possibly called a Kirtle) and a Houppelande.
I wanted to wear the houppelande for a wedding I was going to that I made the bride and groom's Medieval Wedding Outfits. So I made a new kirtle for myself (Mom is shorter than I am, in legs and arms), with detachable sleeves that I have tacked on at the shoulder (see photos without and with). I'm also wearing a very fine wool rolled hat and a brocade coif which is barely visible. The kirtle is the same pattern as my viking dress, I got the instructions here: http://silverdor.knownworldweb.com/viking/underdress.html and the Houppelande is from Cynthia Virtue's Website.
