Rei sank into the overstuffed leather armchair as she sipped her almond cappuchino and opened up the loosely bound book she purchased at a very strange occult shop on the fringes of the Cairo marketplace. It was a newly printed text on the study of the Vimpire threat by Dr. William Lori. The book may have been newly printed, but this Japanese girl was sure it had never seen a computer in the process. It actually reminded her more of the movable type press machines her class played with on a field trip to he hands on history museum.

Thinking of the museum sent a shiver up her spine and as she shut her eyes she saw herself deliver the killing blow, and her beloved drop to the ground. Rei shook it off and took another sip of her coffee. The mell reminded her of the times that she and Minoru went to Satei Hato in their full gothic Victorian dress after a party. Then she remembered seeing him standing in the middle of that white room. Hearing his voice saying "…she killed me…" He could have just as easily reached into her chest, ripped out her heart and squeezed it through her fingers for all the pain of just those few words. Then there was the note. She pulled it from her pocket and opened it up. She had read it over and over, she didn't even need the paper to see the calligraphy she knew so well. "Come visit me. I will be with the starfire wheel."

Either he still loved her, or he would destroy her. Either way she had to know, but hopefully this book would give her the edge if it were the latter. Rei took a deep breath, returned the note to her pocket, right next to the sharpened stake, and began to read her book. If she was right, their next stop would find the truth.
